Support for handicrafts: Artisan Card

Support for handicrafts: Artisan Card

I never tire of saying it: the artisan certificate is ESSENTIAL! Not only for the status it confers but also for the financial support it provides for participation in fairs and markets, and for the educational programs it offers.

The Artisan's Card is an official recognition granted to those who practice a craft activity, valuing manual, traditional, or creative work. Having this card brings several important advantages to those who make a living from crafts.

One of the main advantages is the legal recognition of the activity as a craft , which increases credibility with customers, fair organizers, municipalities, and public authorities.

With the Artisan Card, it is possible to:

  • Participate in certified craft fairs and markets.
  • Accessing support, incentives, and specific programs for artisans.
  • Use the official designation of "Artisan" when promoting your work.
  • To enhance and differentiate your products in the market.
  • Facilitate contacts with cultural and tourism entities.

In many fairs and events, the Artisan's Card is even a mandatory requirement for participation.

Who can apply for the Artisan Card?

Anyone who engages in a craft activity , whether full-time or part-time, can apply, for example:

  • Traditional handicrafts
  • Contemporary crafts
  • Creating unique pieces or small series.
  • Manual transformation of raw materials

It is important that the work has a significant manual component and an artisanal identity.

Having an active business activity is required to apply for an artisan's license.

How to apply for the Artisan Card

Registration for the Artisan Card is done through CEARTE and is free of charge.

The process is simple and involves:

  1. Fill out the registration form.
  2. Present identification documents.
  3. Describe the craft activity performed.
  4. Send photographs of the work done (or other supporting evidence).

After review, if the application is approved, an Artisan Card is granted, valid throughout the national territory.

Financial support for participation in craft fairs

With the Artisan Card you can apply for cost support. , which help cover travel, accommodation and other costs — with amounts that generally range from a few hundred euros and, in larger cases, up to around €1,000 per event depending on the duration and distance.
The total annual support is limited (approximately €2,612.50 per year ).
