Why I chose to work with cement.

Why I chose to work with cement.
Cement craftsmanship, timeless design, and sustainable decoration.

Cement is a material often associated with construction and industry, but in my work it has taken on a completely different meaning.
I chose to work with cement because it allows me to create handcrafted, durable, and timeless decorative pieces , where every detail tells a story.

In this article I share the reasons that led me to choose cement as the main material and why I believe it has a special place in contemporary decoration.

A simple, versatile material full of character.

Cement is an honest material.
She doesn't hide her imperfections — she embraces them.

That is precisely what makes it so special in the craft:
Each cement piece has slight variations in texture, color, and finish that make it unique.

👉 No two handcrafted cement pieces are alike , and this uniqueness is part of their value.

✋ The manual process behind the cement pieces

Working with cement is a process that requires time, attention, and skillful hands.

From mixing to final finishing, each piece goes through several stages:

  • preparation of the mixture
  • mold filling
  • natural healing time
  • remove from the mold and sand
  • finishing and protection

This artisanal process creates objects with identity, far removed from mass production and fast consumption.

♻️ Durability and sustainability in cement crafts

Choosing to work with cement was also a conscious decision.

Although cement has an impact on its industrial production, in handicrafts it takes on a new meaning:

  • It is used in small quantities.
  • results in durable parts
  • avoids frequent replacements
  • promotes conscious consumption

🌱 Sustainability is also about creating objects made to last.

A decorative cement piece can accompany a house for many years without losing relevance or functionality.

Cement as the identity of my brand.

More than just a material, cement represents the values of my work:

  • simplicity
  • durability
  • accepted imperfection
  • timeless design
  • handcrafted production

Each piece is designed to integrate naturally into spaces without excess, adding texture, balance, and authenticity.

Because working with cement is about creating pieces with meaning.

I chose cement because it allows me to create intentionally, respecting the time required for the process and the value of handmade work.

It's not the easiest material.
Not even the fastest.

But that's what best reflects what I believe: less quantity, more meaning.
